A Gorget, made for a Cherokee Citizen by a Cherokee artist in Tahlequah Oklahoma.
Proudly done for a Cherokee Citizen ... a protector and servant as a United States Marine, and also as a Dallas Texas Metroplex Police Detective. I am blessed it came together as well as it did, as it was the first Gorget I have made as I start my journey as a Cherokee artist in Tahlequah.
It isn't perfect, and bares some qualities from being handmade, but I am very pleased with the result to have made it. It has a heavy weight copper base edged with sterling silver and carefully domed. Highly polished, 4 inches by 6 inches... The United States Marine Corps Logo is hand made sterling silver.
The Cherokee Clan Stars on each side anchor through to the hand wrought rugged sterling silver chains to hold them in place. All jump rings and hammered chain links are hand made.
The stars, with no single point facing up in equality as is the Cherokee practice. The the gentleman comissioning had his Cherokee Great Grandparents names and registry numbers are on the left and right to honor them as he wanted.
The back is lined with black velour felt. I was very happy that I was able to hand it directly to him, and his beautiful wife, in person, in Tahlequah Oklahoma.
